“Family Guy” has become the second series in Emmy history to receive a nomination for best comedy series. It’s an accomplishment not even the mighty “Simpsons” after 20 years on the air could achieve. The last animated series to stand toe-to-toe with its live-action competition was “The Flintstones” back in 1961 (the series lost to “The Jack Benny Program”). But there’s more than just Emmy glory to connect these immensely popular cartoon classics. Let’s count the ways “Family Guy” emulated “The Flintstones."
