Excise police announced Monday that they issued 218 citations during Super Bowl week.

Police said they had very few problems with those attending Super Bowl events at the Super Bowl Village, Lucas Oil Stadium and the Convention Center. Plainclothes officers focused their attention on underage drinking, furnishing alcohol to minors, public intoxication, drug use and other violations.

From Jan. 29 through Feb. 5, excise officers made arrests for the following incidents:
  • Illegal possession or consumption of alcoholic beverages: 120
  • Juvenile possession of tobacco: 35
  • Furnishing or providing alcohol to a minor: 18
  • Possession of false ID: 11
  • Possession of marijuana: 10
  • Public intoxication: 10
  • False informing: 7
  • Disorderly conduct: 2
  • Minor in tavern: 2
  • Resisting law enforcement: 1
  • Sale of alcoholic beverages without permit: 1
  • Furnishing tobacco to a juvenile: 1

Excise police are the enforcement division of the Indiana Alcohol & Tobacco Commission. They have the authority to enforce any state law, but focus primarily on enforcing Indiana's alcohol and tobacco statutes.
