Hotels hosting Super Bowl teams bet against each other for game

The Giants will be staying at the Indianapolis Marriott Downtown, and the Patriots will be at University Place near Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI).

Indianapolis

It is an ironic twist that's leaving a bad taste in the mouths of many Colts fans. When Tom Brady and the New England Patriots come to Indianapolis to prepare for the Super Bowl, they'll be practicing inside the Colts complex on 56th Street.

Yes, Tom Brady will be throwing the ball around on the Colts' home practice turf. That fact is prompting fan responses like the following:
"That's just not right.  It's not right."

"Not a good idea.  I think they should have sent him maybe to Lebanon or somewhere."

"If it was up to me, I'd say let them practice in the street."

Well, that's not happening. Just because the Patriots will be practicing at the Colts facility, that doesn't mean they should expect a warm fuzzy welcome mat. There will be no "Welcome New England Patriots" sign hanging on the outside of the complex.

Leave it to the downtown hotels to roll out that welcome mat, though. The Patriots will be staying at the University Place Hotel, near the campus of IUPUI.

Hotel manager, Tom Cappucci said the entire property will be at the team's disposal.

"We have 278 guest rooms, and the team will take all of them.  So we're not going to be taking care of any other fans or individual ones, so they have the full reign of the property and whatever they'd like to do," Cappucci said.

Meantime, Eli Manning and the New York Giants will be practicing at the football facility at UIndy when they arrive in town.

The team is expected to arrive at the Downtown Marriott, where hotel staff are preparing to block of hundreds of rooms.

"We think it'll be somewhere between 120 and 150 for the team.  And then they have a large friends and family block that will also be staying with us starting next Thursday," said Marriott spokesperson Janice Zoeller.

The exact number of rooms won't be known until the teams send official requests. The hotels are also reserving plenty of meeting and office space for the teams.

Both hotels expect to start putting up special signs for each team in the next couple days.

The hotels’ management teams are also working out the details of a Super Bowl wager.  The general managers are planning to bet on their hosted teams for the Super Bowl.

The losing hotel will give the other culinary favorites from New York and Boston.  The hotel that loses will also have to donate time to the opposing team’s charity.

Additionally, the defeated hotel manager will have to dye his or her hair red, white and blue, using non-permanent hair dye.  However, that is not all.  The manager of the hotel that hosts the losing team will have to work as a bellman at the opposing hotel for one day.
