Most road restrictions and closures remain in effect Monday, but Missouri Street re-opened for the morning commute. Monument Circle and its spokes will open and some segments of South Street are also slated to re-open Monday afternoon. The remaining downtown streets are expected to be back open on Friday the 10th.
"We've worked several years to prepare for our cleanup so, we're excited the people we've had at the table from public works to public safety are ready to go and that plan is in place and that the public just continues to pay attention. So, while the game has ended, our work still continues to bring our city back to the state it was in before Super Bowl madness took over," said Dianna Boyce of the Super Bowl Host Committee.
Boyce says the host committee is proud of residents and applauds everyone's efforts in making Super Bowl XLVI a success. More than a million people visited the village and records were set at the NFL Experience with 265,000 people taking part at the convention center.
